Q: Do you raise more than one breed?

A: Yes, Newwfoundlands - quite different in size and color, but very loving and sweet natured like the Bichon and Havanese.  Over the last several years we have been researching Bulldogs for my son  and grandson.

Q. How long have you been breeding dogs?

A: My family has been dog lovers  and trainers for over 30 years, but  we have been raising Bichons & Newfies  for aprox. ten years and Havanese for  almost six years.

Q: Where are your dogs kept and how are the puppies socialized?

A: We have a kennel home where most of the dogs are in pairs. Each living quarter has a large run or yard. All doghouses are heated and/or have an ample amount of bedding. In extreme temperatures they are able to come inside the doggie doors to a homey atmosphere.  All our dogs are part of our family and have daily contact with adults and children in our kennel-home and our log home. The Newfs would prefer to be in one of our ponds, while the Bichons would rather be on  someone's lap. Puppies are kept in a special puppy proof room where they are whelped, and weaned. Our  adult dogs have never been on wire or in a cage, if they are not in our home, living area in the kennel, they are on concrete, gravel  or grass. All dogs have fresh water, quality dog food, sanitized  sleeping and living quarters ,  routine  worming , vaccinations and excellent vet.care.  Grooming is done daily, as all of  these breeds require  a lot of time. grooming.

Q: Do you show your dogs?

A: No, we have quality healthy dogs that represent the breed well.  Many of our dogs have potential show quality. We spend a lot of time training, grooming and playing with our dogs, but our preference is to stay home and spend time with our children and pets.  We do have a handler that is presently showing a couple of our dogs.

Q: What is your health guarantee?

A: Each puppy is guaranteed to be free of any life threatening contagious disease or illness for 10 days of arrival and two years for any genetic health fault that would affect the quality of his/her life.  Proper documentation is required from a licensed veterinarian within the first two yrs.of  life for another puppy of the same breed and gender.  If the new family wants to keep their puppy, then we will be fair and reasonable when considering a monetary compensation.  Buyer is responsible to provide adequate  shelter, proper diet, necessary veterinarian care and loving treatment!  All puppies have a thorough vet.examination and receive a health certificate within seven days of shipping.

Q: Is shipping safe?

A: We certainly wouldn't consider it, if it wasn't. We ship Priority Air only (counter to counter) They are gradually accustomed to the crate and outside climates before they go. Food, water, bedding and something to chew on accompanies them. Most of the stress is due to leaving their littermates, but they settle into their new homes quickly.

Q: How many times a year do you breed each dog?

A: It depends on breed, maturity and health of  the dog.

Q: What do you do with your older dogs?

A: We have plenty of room and plenty of time, they retire here with us or are placed in a loving home for someone that cannot afford a puppy, but loves the breed.

Q: Which is a better pet, a male  or a female?

A: It's just a matter of personal preference. Each  has an individual personality, but both have the same loving traits that make these breeds such wonderful companions.

Q: What do I do to reserve a puppy?

A: I will hold a puppy with a $500 (non-refundable deposit) with balance due (in the form of a credit card, cashier check, money order or  Paypal) 10 days before shipping. Include full name, address, phone, e-mail , 1st & 2nd choice of closest major airport, sex , and any other information or questions that you think are important.

Q: What happens next?

A: I will send you a signed receipt, health guarantee, shot record and tentative shipping arrangements. After receiving balance, I will confirm flight  arrangements and basic instructions for picking up your puppy. At this time I would also fill out AKC papers (please be patient-they take at least 3 weeks to receive them from AKC) A vet appointment to receive health certificate would also be scheduled at this time.

Q: How do I prepare for the puppy's  arrival?

A: Read as much as possible about the breed and caring for a new puppy (it's much like adopting a baby) Have some basic grooming supplies, chew toys, harness or collar, leash, a puppy proof area with plenty of newspaper, science diet (small bites-dry) is what the puppies are weaned on. So if you can start them on that and gradually switch to your preferred brand, that would be great. Schedule a vet appointment for the date  that his /her last vaccination is due. I would suggest taking a stool sample to the vet, to make sure the puppy is free of parasites or worms. I worm all my puppies every two weeks until twelve weeks of age.

Q: Do you sell to pet shops, brokers or large commercial breeders?

A: No, we like to know the homes our puppies are placed in and stay in contact with them.

Q: Are puppies AKC registered?

A: Yes

Q: Can I breed my dog and have AKC reg. puppies?

A: Yes,unless the puppy has a known fault and should not be bred, in which I would make sure you were aware at the time of purchase, the reg. would be limited and you could not reg.puppies. If there are no apparent faults, then I leave the responsibility up to the new owner. However, I strongly advise you to spay/neuter your pet. There are many responsibilities and  a lot of time involved  to properly care for your dog and her puppies.
